Susana nunca imaginó que, al morir su abuela Carmela, su vida daría un vuelco total. Su querida abuela tenía un doloroso pasado que ella acababa de descubrir, y se vio de pronto inmersa en una gran aventura, en la que tuvo que dejar atrás su casa, sus amigos y su trabajo para desplazarse a otro lugar y tratar de localizar a una persona, su tía Susana, cuyo pasado desconocía. La novela comienza en la Guerra Civil, y en ella se entremezclan pasión, amor y odio, aderezados con un toque de intriga. La historia se desarrolla principalmente en Galicia. Sin embargo, lo más destacable de la misma es el afán de superación de Carmela que, a pesar de todo lo que le aconteció en su vida, nunca se rindió. Por eso esta novela es un canto al amor y, sobre todo, a la esperanza.
